HOME OF CHAMPION CHINESE SHAR-PEI
(LOCATED JUST OUTSIDE PORTLAND OREGON USA!)

ISIS, CREAM DILUTE FEATURED HORSECOAT PICTURE OF THE MONTH

  • The HORSECOAT is the original coat for the Shar-Pei. IT is very short and off standing. It is usually less than ½ inch in length and can cause people to get a rash as it is very prickly. One distinctive feature of the horsecoat is the tail. IT has very little hair like a rat’s tail.

  • The BRUSHCOAT has a longer hair coat about 1/2 inch or less. It is a softer feeling coat BUT should still be course in texture and off standing NOT flat. Tail is like a bottle brush.

  • The differences in coat have nothing to do with color. The length, appearance and feel of the coat is what separates the two types. See comparisons below. If you have any questions regarding coat types, please contact us for more information.
